Uniforms
Uniforms are available at the Scout Shop at 664 West Broadway in Vancouver. There is free parking in the back.
- Beavers should purchase a vest, a hat and optionally, a Pond Map. The Pond Map can be downloaded.
- Cubs should purchase a shirt and optionally, a Jungle Map, which replaces the Cub Book. The Jungle Map can be downloaded.
- Scouts should purchase a shirt and optionally, a Canadian Trails Map, which replaces the Scout Book. The Canadian Trails Map can be downloaded.
- Venturers and Rovers should purchase a shirt.
- Leaders should purchase a shirt, which will be reimbursed by the Group. The Leader Handbook, now called the Scouter Handbook, is online at the Canadian Path website.
- There are lots of other optional things to purchase there like vests and campfire blankets.
- Note that the Pond Map, Jungle Map, and Canadian Trails maps are available for download from the Canadian Path website.
Group specific items (Fraser Valley Council Crest, Coho Area Crest and 12th New Westminster Group Crest), a woggle, a Group necker (scarf), woggle, and a Tail (for Beavers only), will be presented when the member is invested into the Section. Often the parents assist when their child is invested.
When Leaders are invested, they receive Group-specific crests (Fraser Valley Council, Coho Area, and 12th New Westminster Group), a Group necker, and a Section-specific role insignia for the Section(s) in which they are active leaders. They will receive a Woodbadge woggle when their Woodbadge training is complete. If attending the in-person Woodbadge training, the woggle is presented at the end of the training. If the training is done on-line, the Group Commissioner will organize to obtain a Woodbadge woggle by contacting the Area Support Manager. Often the child of the leader assists with the investiture by putting the necker on their parent.
Only specific items are to be sewn onto uniforms. All other patches for event, camps, etc. are to sewn onto a campfire blanket. Items that are allowed on a uniform are limited to the following:
- Group Crest,
- Area and Council Crests,
- Scouting Awards & Commendations,
- Service Stripes,
- Outdoor Adventure Skills Badges, Personal Achievement Badges, Awards, top Section Award,
- Agency Awards,
- Religion in Life Emblem,
- 1967/2007/2017 Anniversary badges,
- Religious Affiliation,
- Language Strip,
- FLEX (Cubs)/FAST (Scouts)/FOCUS (Venturers) Badge,
- World Scout Environment Program,
- Lodge/Six/Patrol Insignia,
- Link Badges, and
- Role Insignia (Scouters).

Link badges are given to youth as they move from Section to Section and can be presented at Swim Up / Leap Up / Climb Up / Swagger Up or the next meeting. These go on the bottom of the left sleeve.
Service Stripes go on the lower left sleeve and represent the number of years as a youth and a leader in the Scouting program. Those transferring from the Guiding program can use their years in that program. Myscouts keeps track of the years, but is often inaccurate.
Periodically, we need to order new Group 12 neckers and Group 12 crests. These can be ordered from Tracy Rehill at Zone West at (604) 460-2828, traci@zonewest.ca, http://www.zonewest.net/ The cost is ~$1.50 for crests and ~$6.00 for neckers, depending on the number ordered.
