All camps need the following paperwork:

  • Camping and Outdoor Activity (COA) form prepared and signed by the Scouter in Charge, and approved by the Group Commissioner.
  • Registration forms and emergency contact details for all attendees (printout from myscouts).
  • Hold harmless forms for non-registered attendees.
  • Extra set of the above to be handed into Camp Chief if required.
  • Training completed for all adult participants (e.g. parent overnight)
  • Camp-specific registration forms if applicable.
  • Check vehicle condition (battery condition, spare tire for vehicle and trailer, oil and other fluids, ice scraper, fuel, snow tires, chains, jumper cables, antifreeze, lights, tire wrench).

The Mount Seymour Winter Camp at the Camp Luther Chalet has a kitchen, large sleeping areas and has all required cutlery, dishes, etc. The camp has the following:

  • There is an oven and a large cooktop. The elements on the oven are junk, so bring the four burner stove.
  • Fridge, coffee maker, toasters.
  • Cooking dishes, knives, spoons, etc. are all there, but only about 60 mugs.
  • There are a number of very large pots.
  • Personal dishes are all there.
  • Sleeping mats. There are double bunks with mattresses for anyone sleeping inside the cabin... unless you end up on the floor.

Go to the locker and get:

  • Rubbermaid tubs to pack food into.

10 or more water jugs (filled). Note that all cooking and drinking water needs to be brought in.

  • Section flags and a loose Canadian flag to break during opening.
  • Axe
  • Toolbox with file, spare mantles, adjustable wrench, etc.
  • Snowshovels
  • Long ropes to hang clothes on and short ones to tie flags up on the balcony.
  • Small ropes for knot work.
  • Dish soap, 3 squirt bottled of hand soap, scrub pads, 5 dishcloths, and 5 teatowels
  • Cleaning supplies (rags, Comet, and bottle of bleach) for outhouse (a grotty mop is at the cabin)
  • Oven mitts
  • 4 squirt bottles of hand sanitizer
  • Large black garbage bags
  • Spare sleeping bags (barf bags)
  • Cooking pots and pans are there, but we can bring some if required.
  • Juice jug
  • Coffee thermos
  • Coffee bodum
  • Matches/lighter
  • First aid kit
  • Compasses (red tackle box)
  • Crab cooker
  • Coolers
  • Four burner stove AND the large black hose with the quick connect.
  • Two 20# propane tanks (for the 4 burner stove and the crab cooker if we use them)
  • Adjustable wrench to connect the crab cooker.
  • Duct tape
  • clear packing tape

Consider bringing the following. They can be put them in the trailer and brought to the cabin if required.

  • Large pots for hot chocolate (the one we usually put on the crab cooker).
  • White washtubs because the sinks don't hold water.

Check in the locker, but you may need to purchase the following:

  • Coffee filters
  • Napkins
  • Toilet paper
  • Tin foil
  • Zip lock bags
  • Kleenex boxes
  • Sugar
  • Teabags

Scouts who are sleeping outside will need the following:

  • Tents for Scouts and Scouters
  • Box of groundsheets
  • 2 Propane lanterns for outside
  • Small propane bottles
  • Hammers
  • Box of spare tentpegs
  • Deadman anchors
  • Matches/lighter
  • First aid kit
  • Box of misc. ropes

Go to Home Depot and purchase the following:

  • Bag of lime for the outhouse

Bring from home:

  • Leaf bags for recycling stations
  • Garbage can with large plastic bag for food waste
  • Firewood
  • Laminated “Girls” and “Boys” signs for the outhouse
  • Laminated “Food Waste”, “Recycling” and "Garbage" signs
  • Snowshovel
  • Games like cards, chess, puzzles, woggle making material
