The instructions to assemble the Human Foosball station are below.
This is a great activity that takes about 1.5 hours to assemble and then is largely self-running. It is set up for ~12 players, but can be played with more or less.
It is a good station to offer for Cuboree, Beaveree, etc.
Play instructions
- About 12 kids split into two teams and play Foosball on a large scale.
- Get the kids facing the right direction - they alternate direction of play per the sketch (team 1 goalie, team 2 strikers, team 1 midfielders, team 2 midfielders, team 1 strikers, team 2 goalie).
- The players must hold the pipes and they can move side to side, but not front to back.
- Return the ball to the centre when a goal is scored.
Get the following material from the locker:
- 20x steel fence posts.
- 2x 50’ lengths of snow fencing.
- 12x 3’ pieces of rebar.
- Six pieces of white pipe in 3’, 5’ and 7’ lengths.
- Yellow bag with the following:
- Zap straps.
- 12x orange rebar caps.
- Six 33’ lengths of rope.
- Soccer balls.
- Spare rope.
- Roll of electrical tape to tape the pipes together for storage.
- Knife to cut the zap straps.
Borrow the following from Geoff
- Steel post pounder.
- Sledgehammer.
Assembly Instructions
- Lay out a rectangle spacing the steel fence posts one post length apart. This results in a playing area that is about 18'x40'.
- Drive all posts in with a post pounder. Don't go too deep or they can be hard to pull out.
- Roll out the snow fencing and zap strap to the goal posts. Then zap strap to all the rest of the posts. Keep the fencing low to the ground so the ball doesn't escape during play.
- Using the sledgehammer, drive the pieces of rebar in at a 45 degree angle. Line them up with the adjacent fence posts.
- Add rebar caps for safety.
- Tie the ropes to the rebar with a round turn and two half hitches. Run the line up to the top of the adjacent fence post and add a clove hitch.
- Feed the rope through the lengths of pipe (note the three different lengths of pipe: short for goalie, middle for strikers and long for midfielders).
- Add another clove hitch at the opposite fencepost and tighten the rope so the pipes don’t sag too much.
- Add a bight like an Alpine Butterfly and use a Trucker’s Hitch to allow you to tighten the ropes during the day.
