The following is a list of Group Gear required for a standing camp.

All camps need the following paperwork:

  • Outdoor Activity Form approved by the Group Commmissioner.
  • Registration forms and emergency contact details for all attendees (from myscouts).
  • Extra set of the above to be handed into Camp Chief if required.
  • Hold harmless forms for non-registered attendees.
  • Camp-specific registration forms if applicable.
  • Check vehicle condition (battery condition, spare tire for vehicle and trailer, oil and other fluids, ice scraper, fuel, snow tires, chains, jumper cables, antifreeze, lights, tire wrench).

The gear required for a camp depends on the which camp you are going to:

  • Stave Lake has a lodge and a flat camping area with a shelter. It has a stove, but no cooking gear (pans, etc.). It has potable water.
  • Mount Seymour has a lodge and a hilly camping area. It has a kitchen-style stove/oven, a large flat cook-top, and cooking gear and dishes. It does not have potable water. Youth do not need to bring eating utensils.
  • Camp Linley as a lodge and a camping area. It has a kitchen-style stove/oven, but we need to bring propane for it. Youth need to bring eating utensils.
  • Snowfly has a flat camping area and you need to bring everything.

  • Tents (orange ones hold 2 people; blue ones hold 1 person)

  • Aluminum tarp poles (optional)

  • Water Jugs (filled). Number depends on the camp and number of participants.

  • Round of wood for flag holder
  • Spare sleeping bags (barf bags)
  • Coolers
  • Mini-tanks (for lanterns if not put on distribution tree)
  • Two 20lb propane tanks (check that they are filled)
  • First aid kit

  • Small toolbox of spare tent pegs
    • Large toolbox with:
    • Extra hammers
    • File for axe
    • Adjustable wrench for propane tanks
    • Aerosol can (flat tire repair)
  • Paper / Kindling / Firewood
  • Coffee thermos!!
  • 5-gallon bucket with lid for food waste (need one for locker)
  • Two 10x’x10’ pop up shelters c/w heavy green tarp sides
  • Propane heater or fireplace
  • Snowshovels
  • Sleds/crazy carpets/etc.
  • Metal tub to use as a firepit
  • Metal snow shovel and axe
  • Extra propane heater and 20lb tank
  • Recycling / compost bags or bins

The Patrol Boxes should be prepacked with the following. There is loose gear in the locker for the other Sections to bring for standing camps. The gear is required is similar, but things can be changed like replace the two-burner propane stove with the large 4-burner stove.
